Esther Marie Vandahl Dunlap

OLSBURG — Esther Marie Vandahl Dunlap, 86 years old, of Vicksburg passed away at Belhaven Senior Care in Jackson on Oct. 24, 2017.

Esther was born in the Four Mile Creek community in Pottawattamie County, Kan., on May 28, 1931, to Ellen and Johannes Vandahl.

She attended high school at Cleburne, Kansas.

She was a member of the Mariadahl Lutheran Church near Cleburne, Kansas, until its closure.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her three children, Sally Dunlap of Euless, Texas, Tommy Dunlap and wife Pattye of Clinton, and Randy Dunlap and wife Wanda of Flora. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Travis Dunlap, Sara Scothorn, Craig Rossett, Ashley Dunlap Prine, Peyton Dunlap, Matthew Dunlap, Brett Benham; and five great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, David Vandahl and wife Judy of Weston, Missouri.

Esther grew up on the family farm near Cleburne, Kansas, in the Blue Valley. She later lived for a time near Satartia and then in Vicksburg where she worked at the Waterways Experiment Station as a librarian until her retirement.

Services will be at Olsburg Lutheran Church in Olsburg, Kansas, on Nov. 3, 2017, at 11 am.
