Police continue probe into shooting death

Vicksburg police are continuing their investigation into the reported shooting death of Antonio Maurice Henderson, 36, early Monday morning on Baldwin Ferry Road, Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

Officers responding about 12:04 a.m. to a call of shots fired at the East View Apartments, 1900 Baldwin Ferry Road, arrived to find Henderson on the ground in front of building 14 with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.

Witnesses told police they heard an argument and then shots were fired. They said a dark colored vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.

The death was the first of two shootings occurring after midnight Monday.

Edwards said police are looking for a man in connection with a shooting in the 3100 block of Washington Street about 12:16 a.m. Officers responding to a call about an reported aggravated assault and attempted robbery involving a 20-year-old man arrived to find a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, side and head. He was taken to Merit Health River Region, where he was in stable condition

In other cases:

• Alexander Lindsey, no age given, faces drug charges after officers found marijuana and crack cocaine in his vehicle after a traffic stop at the intersection of Military and Ben Bolia streets about 10:50 p.m. Friday, Edwards said.

• Police arrested Lacy Simms on a warrant from Tupelo charging her with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after a traffic stop about 11:05 p.m. Friday. Edwards said the warrant was discovered during a records check.
