Lila Florell Sturgis died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Sturgis was born in Stockton, Calif., and had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 74 years.

She was the daughter of the late Eddie Florell and Ethel Hussey Florell.

Mrs. Sturgis was a former employee of Betchel Corporation in the drafting department.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Sturgis; two daughters, Darleah Rushing Fine (Gary) and Shannon Rushing Stevens. Lila has twin grandchildren, Erik and Ella Stevens.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Tamra Rae Rushing.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
