$44,000 taken from truck at local casino

A total of $44,100 was reported taken about 9:20 p.m. Saturday from a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup parked at the WaterView Casino, 3990 Washington St., Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

He said officers found damage around the lock on the driver’s side door, indicating someone entered the truck by forcing the lock. The money was in a pink and purple tote bag buried under some magazines.

In other cases:

• A break-in was reported at a home in the 1400 block of Division Street Saturday about 1:15 p.m. Nothing was taken. Entry was gained through a broken kitchen window.

• A .22-caliber rifle and ammunition were reported taken Friday about 10:41 a.m. from a 2012 Jeep Laredo parked at the Riverwalk Casino, 1046 Warrenton Road.

According to the police report, two boxes of .44-caliber ammunition, a box of .22 magnum ammunition and a box of .22 caliber ammunition were taken from the car.
