All nonemergency city services will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said all city departments except for the Vicksburg police and fire departments and the ambulance service will be closed Thursday and Friday before reopening on Monday.

“If anybody needs an emergency service they can call 601-636-3411,” Flaggs said.

Waste Management will also be delaying trash pick up for residents in the city and county. City residents with Thursday collection will have their trash picked up Friday and residents with a Friday collection will have their trash picked up on Saturday.

County residents with Thursday collections will not be served this week. Those with a Friday or Saturday collection will receive their normal service.

Commercial customers with Thursday collection will have their trash picked up Friday and commercial customers with a Friday collection will have their trash picked up on Saturday. Waste Management asks that all cans be to the street no later than 6 a.m. as routes will be completed earlier than normal.

All routes and collection days will return to normal Monday.
