CARY — Margaret Jean Martz, 88, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Cary, Nov. 30, 2017.

Margaret “Jean” was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 6, 1929. She was the daughter of Samuel A. Moore and Annie S. (Russell) Moore.

After graduating from high school, she worked for United States Steel Corp., the Pennsylvania Railroad and later for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Pennsylvania.

She married Edgar P. “Ted” Martz on July 9, 1961. The two made their home in Manor, Pa., before moving to Dormont, Pa. and later retiring to Daytona Beach, Fla. Jean moved to Cary in 2005 to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar “Ted” Martz; one grandson; and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Woodhall of Trafford, Pa., and Amy Martz George of Cary; a son, Jody Martz of Jeannette, Pa.; three nephews; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Cary Baptist Church in Cary Sunday Dec. 10, 2017. She will be buried next to her husband in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
