Mary Jane Lauderdale

Mary Jane Lauderdale, 94, longtime resident of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Merit Health River Region.

She was a charter member of St. Michael Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Vicksburg Foundation For Historic Preservation, Vicksburg and Warren County Historical Society and Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality.

For many years, she was sanctuary chairman, lector and commentator for St. Michael Catholic Church.

She was active in the St. Aloysius Mother’s Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Knitwits.

She was born in Vicksburg to the late Charles Leroy Barber Sr. and Jane Josephine Rafferty Barber.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Fearon Lauderdale Sr. and brothers Leroy and John Barber.

She is survived by sons, Bill Lauderdale Jr. (Ada) of Vicksburg, Joseph E. Lauderdale (Frieda) of Jackson; daughters, Jane Lauderdale Flowers of Vicksburg and Chris Lauderdale Maloney (Tom) of Mandeville, La.; grandchildren, Linda Bass, John Burns Lauderdale (Melanie), Allison Lauderdale Young (Russell), Christin Flowers Matthews (Aaron), Keith and Byron Flowers and Valerie, Jennifer and Elizabeth Maloney; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Burns Lauderdale, Keith Flowers, Byron Flowers, Dr. Jerry Barber, Evans Barber, Aaron Matthews and Russell Young.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Vicksburg Catholic Schools Music Department, 1900 Grove St., Vicksburg, MS 39183.
