Undercover operation results in drug arrest

An undercover drug operation resulted in the arrest of a Vicksburg man.
At around 6:40 Wednesday morning, Vicksburg police arrested Michael Jamal Moore, 25, of 201 Berryman Road, Apartment M-94 on a warrant for the sale of marijuana.
The undercover operation, lead by the Narcotic’s Division of the VPD, was a result of complaints from the community of drug activity in the area.
Moore made his initial court appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday.
Vicksburg police also made the following arrests Tuesday:
• Tiffany Akeelah Warfield was arrested about 3:54 a.m. in the 900 block of Wabash Avenue on a charge of disorderly conduct — failure to comply.
• James Ross Beckwith was arrested about 9:36 a.m. in the 3100 block of Halls Ferry Road on a charge of having an open container of alcohol.
• Austin Kyle McKormick was arrested about 10:35 a.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
• Three warrants were served on Stephanie Margaret Merritt about 11:44 a.m. at the intersection of Monroe and Clay streets.
• Shontava Dernece Ward was arrested about 3:17 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 61 South and Fog Drive on charges of speeding, driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.
• Karen Magruder was arrested about 4:50 p.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of contempt of court.
• Caleb Dartaryun Carter was arrested about 5:12 p.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of petit larceny.
• Kevin Deon Wade was arrested about 8:06 p.m. in the 3500 block of Pemberton Square Boulevard on charges of shoplifting and three counts of contempt of court.
