Vicksburg Police have issued a warrant for Jsohn Melvin “Scooter” Ross accusing him of aggravated assault in the shooting of Keithan Terrell Ward.
Ross is accused of shooting Ward, 20, in the leg at a home in the 1300 block of South Street Thursday about 4 p.m. Ward told police officers responding to the shooting that Ross, who is also known as “Scooter,” shot him after the two had a confrontation inside the home in which multiple shots were fired.
Ward was taken to Merritt Health River Region Medical Center for treatment by paramedics from the Vicksburg Fire Department and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was in stable condition, police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.
Ross was not on scene when police arrived, and Edwards said Ross also has several outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
If anyone has additional information concerning this shooting or know the whereabouts of Ross are asked to call the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or CrimeStoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
