Vicksburg man to serve 10 years for robbery

A Vicksburg man will serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in Warren County Circuit Court to aggravated assault and armed robbery in the August 2016 robbery of a man at gunpoint.
Circuit Judge C. James Chaney sentenced Tyree Tyrell Barnett to 15 years with 10 to serve and five years’ post-release supervision. He was also ordered to pay $1,584.50 in fines, costs, fees and restitution.
In other cases:
• Claude Friley, 24, and Lacey Renae Smith, 19, were each placed on two years’ probation after pleading guilty to larceny— stealing a dog in the theft of a dog from the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society on U.S. 61 South.
The couple were also ordered to each pay $2,084.50 in court costs, fines, fees and restitution, and to stay away from the Humane Society property.
• Kimberly Denise Bell, 23, was placed in the court’s drug court program after pleading guilty to two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by embezzlement. She was ordered to pay $2,609.50 in court costs, fees, restitution and fines.
• Christopher Shawn Smith, 40, was sentenced to five years in jail with one to serve and placed on four years’ post-release supervision after Chaney revoked his suspended sentence for failing to register as a sex offender after he violated the terms of his probation. Smith was also ordered to pay $1,384.50 in unpaid fines, fees, court costs and restitution.
• Darryl Lee Williams, 24, was sentenced to eight years in prison with three to serve and five years’ post-release supervision after his suspended sentence for possession of a weapon after felony conviction was revoked for violating the conditions of his probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,884.50 in court costs, fines and fees.
• Gerald Tyrone Vaughn, 39, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five to serve and placed on five years’ post-release supervision after his suspended sentence for robbery was revoked because he violated the terms of his probation. He was also ordered to pay $5,563.50 in fines, fees, court costs and restitution.
• Arguello Magee, 35, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five to serve and placed on five years’ post release supervision after his suspended sentence for robbery was revoked for violating the conditions of his probation. He was also ordered to pay $2,322.50 in fines, fees, court costs and restitution.
