Mary Isabelle Robb “Belle” Schott

Mary Isabelle Robb “Belle” Schott, residing in River Ridge, La., died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Dec. 21, 2017.

A former teacher, artist, seamstress, golfer, homemaker, graduate of Ursuline College in New Orleans, La., and devoted parishioner at numerous Roman Catholic parishes throughout her life, she was 96 years old.

The sole daughter of Mary Isabelle Helgason of Vicksburg and McCarthy Chichester Robb, of Hinds County, she was born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Vicksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bernard John Schott of New Orleans, La.

She is survived by seven children; two sons-in-law; and three daughters-in-law, Thomas Edwin and Susan Gremillion Schott of Norman, Okla; Bernard John Jr. and Margaret Seghers Schott of Baton Rouge, La.; Paul Chester Schott of Lafayette, La; Lawrence Andrew and Anne Leech Schott of River Ridge, La.; Mary Isabelle Schott and Leonard Robert Brzycki of Grand Junction, Colo.; Mary Ellen Schott of Aurora, Colo.; and Gretchen Marie Schott and Mark Alan McGoffin of Centennial, Colo.; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, all of whom will miss her wit, wisdom, culture, and verve for life and learning.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Jean Vianney Church, in Baton Rouge, on Saturday, Dec. 30, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Animal Welfare Society (SPCA) or Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area in Baton Rouge.
