Thieves take lumber from two homes

Lumber was reported taken from two homes Thursday, Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

Lumber for the floor, ceiling and walls was taken from a home being rebuilt in the 2300 block of Grove Street about 2:16 p.m. Thursday. At 3:17 p.m., lumber was reported taken from the work site at a home in the 1200 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

In other cases:

• A 2000 Buick LeSabre was reported taken about 3:55 p.m. Thursday from the 5200 block of U.S. 61 South. The car was placed on the National Crime Information Center computer.

• Six microphones and a mike stand were reported taken about 4:40 p.m. Thursday from Mount Zion Baptist Church, 122 Union St.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests Thursday:

• Everlean Craft was arrested about 8:21 a.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of contempt of court.

• Latoya Renee Taylor was arrested about 11:19 a.m. at the intersection of Indiana Avenue and North Frontage Road on charges of driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and failure to yield right of way.

• Gage Leonard Hayes was arrested about 4:23 p.m. in the 2900 block of Valley Street on a charge of malicious mischief.

• Quincy Lee Williams was arrested at the intersection of First North and Clay streets on a charge of having an open container of alcohol.
