Lady Eagles drop pair
at Amite tournament

The Porter’s Chapel Academy Lady Eagles had a rough finish to 2017, losing a pair of games at the ASC New Year’s Basketball Shootout at Amite School Center in Liberty.

PCA lost 39-23 to Central Private on Thursday, and 56-13 to Adams County Christian on Friday afternoon.

Brianna Henson led ACCS with 20 points and Caitlyn Gamberi scored eight. Cameron Yocum led PCA with four points. Yocum had a team-high six in the loss to Central Private.

“We broke the press almost every time, and (ACCS) pressed through 2 1/2 quarters,” PCA coach Amanda Yocum said. “We missed eight layups, possibly more, and were not getting any baskets to drop again. Rebounding was the major issue for us tonight.”

PCA will return to action Tuesday, with a District 3-AAA game at Hillcrest Christian in Jackson.
