Supervisors handle routine matters in first meeting

The Warren County Board of Supervisors took care of several routine matters during their first regular meeting of 2018 on Tuesday.

District 5 Supervisors Richard George was re-appointed President of the Board by his fellow members. The Board also re-appointed John Smith as County Administrator, Blake Teller as Board Attorney and Larry Flowers as Road Manager.

At the advice of Teller, the supervisors spread upon their minutes a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Vicksburg Warren School District its notice of a special election to be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, to consider an $83 million general obligation bond to improve school facilities.

Voters in supervisor districts 1 and 5 will vote at Warren Central High School and districts 2, 3 and 4 will vote at the Vicksburg High School Armory, according to Teller.

In other matters:

• Ally Telecom Group was recommended and approved to provide inmate telephone services for Warren County.

• Approved and authorized the Board President to sign a resolution approving extension of a deadline to advance funds on a line of credit secured by Warren County’s $1.2 million negotiable note dated Aug. 25, 2017 and to authorize the Board President and Chancery Clerk to sign documents related to such extension as may be needed by Riverhills Bank.

• Acknowledged Robert E. Lee/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.

The supervisors recessed their meeting until 9 a.m. on Jan. 16.
