Saturday proved to be a busy day for Warren County Fire Departments as units responded to multiple grass fires resulting in four sheds being destroyed.
Units from Fisher Ferry, Culkin and LeTourneau fire departments responded to a fire at 723 Roberta Circle around 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
Fisher Ferry fire chief Josh Davies said the fire resulted from a controlled burn that got out of hand and caught two 10-by-10 sheds on fire.
Davies said the sheds were destroyed and “there is nothing savable in the sheds.”
Units from Fisher Ferry and Culkin then responded to a similar fire at the intersection of Halls Ferry Road and Timberlane Drive Saturday evening.
“We had another shed fire that was caused by a controlled burn, a lady burning leaves and it just got out of hand and burnt two sheds she had that were about 12-by-12. It was pretty much the same scenario,” Davies said.
Davies said there has been an increase in grass fire throughout the county recently coinciding with the lack of rain in the area.
“Calls countywide are starting to pick up for grass fires, but this weekend has really been the first little influx on grass fires,” Davies said.
Before burning, Davies recommended making sure there is no wind, that you have access to water and that there is a fire line around the area where you are burning.
