Vicksburg-Callaway game moved to VHS

Warren County’s high school basketball schedule for this week has undergone some last-minute renovations.

Tuesday’s games between Vicksburg High and Callaway, originally scheduled to be played in Jackson, have been moved to VHS because of ongoing issues with the City of Jackson’s water system. Broken mains caused by the recent run of sub-freezing temperatures in the capital city have forced schools and businesses to close, as many have little to no water pressure.

Vicksburg and Callaway will flip dates in their home-and-home Division 4-5A series. The teams will now play in Jackson instead of Vicksburg on Jan. 19. Tuesday’s varsity games will begin at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Vicksburg will host Warren Central at 2 p.m. in the second meeting of the season between the crosstown rivals.

The girls’ varsity game had originally been scheduled for 1 p.m., but was pushed back an hour to avoid a schedule conflict with the Warren Central Junior Invitational that is also being played Saturday afternoon.

The junior varsity games between Vicksburg and Warren Central have been canceled.
