Two men face sexual abuse charges in separate cases involving juveniles.
The men were being held without bail at the Issaquena County Corrections Center pending an initial appearance Friday in Municipal Court.
Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said police about 5 p.m. Wednesday arrested Charles McCray, 55, 1016 Urban Court, at his home on a warrant accusing him of statutory rape involving a 15-year-old girl.
According to police reports, the girl’s mother said McCray checked her daughter out of school without her knowledge and was believed to have had a sexual relationship with her.
Police issued a warrant for McCray after an investigation into the complaint.
Thursday about 11:30 a.m., police arrested Jerrell Donnell Oliver, 25, 305 Jefferson St., at the Vicksburg Police Department on a warrant accusing him of molesting an 8-year-old child. The arrest follows an investigation that began Dec. 23 when officers were called to Merit Health River Region about a sexual assault on a child.
According to police, the child’s mother said the child told her Oliver had fondled him, and she took him to the hospital to be examined.
