Funeral services for Martha Watts Brown will be Saturday, Jan. 20, at Traveler’s Rest M.B. Church at noon with the Rev. Johnnie Williams officiating; interment will follow at the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.

Martha Watts Brown passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, at Merit Health River Region following a brief illness. She was 91.

She was a homemaker and member of the King David No. 2 M.B. Church, where she was also a Mother of the Church and also served in the choir. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Watts and Leola Perkins; her husband, Ben Brown Sr.; her sons, Bradford Brown and Robert Brown; daughter, Jo Ann Moore; brother, James Watts Jr.; and her sisters, Alberta Watts, Hester Watts, Laura Watts, Rose Watts, and Janie Watts.

She is survived by her three sons, Ben Brown of Vicksburg, Isaac Brown of Las Vegas, Nev., and Willie James Brown of Ringgold, Ga.; her five daughters, Johnnie Rush, Houston, Texas, Mary Daniels, Melbourne, Fla., Roberta Brown Williams and Rose Brown James, both of Vicksburg; her sister, Artimese McRary of South Field, Mich.; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
