Bond has been set at $2.5 million for a Vicksburg man charged with the city’s first murder of 2018.
Municipal Judge Penny Lawson set the bond for James Robert Reynolds, 30, who is charged with armed robbery and capital murder in the Saturday shooting death of Eddie James Burns, 28. He is also charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The charge of shooting into an occupied vehicle involved an unrelated incident that occurred Friday at The Top Five Store, 1108 Bowmar Ave.
Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Vicksburg Police and family members found Burn’s body, who had been reported missing earlier in the day, lying in a grassy area next to the railroad tracks off Court Street around 3 p.m. Sunday. Burns had been missing since Saturday morning at around 10 a.m. Burns had sustained what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead by the Warren County Coroner on scene.
Reynolds was arrested Sunday on misdemeanor warrants in the area of Bowmar Avenue and he was also listed as a person of interest in the murder of Burns. He was formally charged Monday.
