Man charged with commercial burglary

A Vicksburg man has been charged with commercial burglary in the theft of $2,900 from the office of the River City Rescue Mission, 3705 Washington St., Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

William Donald Adams, 47, a former resident at the mission, was arrested Monday. He is accused of breaking into the mission’s office Jan. 14 and taking a bank bag containing the money.

• A Benelli shotgun was reported taken about 10:01 p.m. Thursday from a car parked in the 3300 block of Highland Road. The gun was later recovered.

• Assorted candy was reported taken about 8:29 a.m. Wednesday from a concession stand at Halls Ferry Park.

• Kenneth Williams, 30, 516 Old Hwy 27, was arrested about 8:26 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Veto Street on a charge of contempt of court.

• Police responded to a simple assault about 9:04 a.m. in the 4100 bloc of South Frontage Road.

Payton Cummins, 50, 681 Boyscout Road, was arrested about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of disorderly conduct in the 800 block of Veto Street.

Latoyia Strong, 35, 3115 Washington St., was arrested about 3:37 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of contempt of court.         

• Officers responded to a call of simple assault in the 1500 block of Ethel Street about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday.

• Danny Bell, 36, 150 Feather Stone Drive, Dubacuh, La., was arrested about 3:55 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• Alexander Coleman 31, 114 Azalea Lane, was arrested about 4:54 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Bazinsky Road and Lake Hill Drive on charges of first-offense DUI, improper passing, no proof of insurance, expired driver’s license and having open container of alcohol.

• Jacoby Walker, 24, 814 Polk St., was arrested about 8:22 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Polk Street on a warrant charging him with four counts of contempt of court and harassing phone calls.

Police made the following arrests Wednesday and Thursday:

• Deanthony Angelo Hicks, 24, 304 Rancho Road, was arrested about 8:42 a.m. Thursday at the Vicksburg Police Department on two counts of contempt of court.

• Terrymarie Manyhides, 10123 E 4950, Rondlett, Utah, was arrested about 11:40 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 61 North on a charge of having a suspended driver’s license, expired car tag and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Brian Kevin Sanford, 38, 96 W J Bryant Road, Seminary, was arrested about 10:27 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of first-offense shoplifting and trespassing.
