A Vicksburg man will serve five years in prison for his part in the 2014 robbery of a check-cashing store.

Circuit Judge M. James Chaney sentenced A.C. Washington III to 15 years in prison with five to serve and placed him on five years’ post-release supervision after Washington pleaded guilty in Warren County Circuit Court to armed robbery. He was also ordered to pay $1,884.50 in fines, fees and court costs.

Washington, 28, 2160 South Frontage Road, was arrested with three other people in the June 2014 armed robbery of the Quick Cash, 3412 Pemberton Square Blvd. Two clerks at the store told police two men entered the store showing a weapon, then jumped the counter, robbed the business of cash and fled the scene by car. The amount was not disclosed.

In other cases:

• James Jones, 33, no address listed, was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 10 to serve and five years’ post-release supervision after pleading guilty in Circuit Court to possession of a controlled substance with intent. He was also ordered to pay $3,384.50 in fines, fees and court costs.

• Devin Cole Dampier, 21, no address listed, was placed in the 9th Judicial District Circuit Court’s Drug Court Program after pleading guilty to burglary of a structure. Sentencing was withheld pending completion of the drug court program, and Dampier was ordered to pay $2,609.50 in fines, fees and court costs.

• Paula Kelly, 41, no address listed, was placed in the 9th Judicial District Circuit Court’s Drug Court Program after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine. Sentencing was withheld pending completion of the drug court program, and Kelly was ordered to pay $2,609.50 in fines fees and court costs.

• Chaney revoked the drug court order for Michael Anthony Kapp, 36, no address listed, and sentenced him to five years in prison with three to serve and placed him on two years’ post-release supervision after he violated the terms and conditions of the drug court program.

• Joshua D. Thornell, 24, no address listed, was sentenced to a Mississippi Department of Corrections restitution center to pay off $4,104.17 in fines court costs and fees after violating the terms of his post-release supervision.
