City employee arrested on drug charges

A city of Vicksburg employee was arrested Friday on drug charges.

According to Warren County Jail booking records, Malcolm Carson, 59, 1855 Standard Hill Road, is charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released on $5,000 bond.

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said Carson has been suspended from his job pending termination.

Carson had been a city employee since 2012, working in the city’s community services department, which oversees misdemeanor offenders who work off their fines from Municipal Court by working in city buildings and collecting trash from roadsides.

In another case, an Arkansas woman was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, charged with the theft of $15,000 from a man who was guest at the Ameristar Casino, 4116 Washington St.

Erica Renee White, 26, 729 E. McAuley road, West Memphis, Tenn., is accused of taking money from a man she met at the casino. According to police reports, the man invited White to his room, and while he was distracted took the money and left.

White was arrested Friday at the casino.

In other cases:

• Cortez Keon Harris, 26, 1311 Victory Ave., was arrested Friday at the Vicksburg Police Department on a warrant charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Tirrus Denzel Tayolor, 22, 3135 Washington St., was arrested Friday on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant charging him with probation violation.

• Shots were reported fired about 2:39 p.m. Sunday in the area of Locust Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 7:46 p.m. Sunday in the area of Stadium Drive and Polk Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 8:18 p.m. in the 1200 block of Mission 66.

• Shots were reported fired about 6:26 p.m. in the 1100 block of Alcorn Drive.

• A counterfeit $100 bill was reported passed about 4:15 a.m. Satruday at the Riverwalk Casino, 1046 Warrenton Road.

• A 1998 Dodge Dakota was reported taken about 7:05 a.m. Friday from the 400 block of Warrenton Road.

• A man reported about 10:52 a.m. Friday that someone used his identification to get a credit card and charge $700 worth of items.

• A man reported about 12:56 p.m. Friday that someone used their gift card to buy $488 of items.

Police made the following arrests Friday through Saturday:

• Warrants were served on Wydell Vishone Eakins, 39, 1510 Rosedown St.

• Antonio Lanae Curtis, 25, 1423 Grove St., was arrested about 11:01 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Haining Road and North Washington Street on a charge of contempt of court. He was also served with a warrant.

• Antwan Alvin Mobley, 33, 207 Olive St., Port Gibson, was arrested on two counts of contempt of court.

• Geramiah Deshawn London, 21, 604 Hossley St., was arrested about 11:34 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Hossley St. on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was also served with a warrant.

• Darrius Lamont Stamps, 33, was arrested about 7;46 p.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on two counts  of contempt of court.

• A warrant was served on Robert Edward Richardson, 47, 3892 Campbell Swamp Road.

• Deion Ferguson, 29, 2705 Yerger St., was arrested about 1:55 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Drummond Street and Mulvihill Street on charges of petit larceny and disorderly conduct. He was also served multiple warrants.

• Warrants were served Saturday on Earnest Tyree Gibson, 39, 1069 Northside Drive, Port Gibson.

• A warrant was served Saturday on Jenny Lynn Lowery, 35, 425 Still Drive.

• A warrant was served Saturday on John Franklin Dill, 74, 2001 Purvis Hill Road.

• Warrants were served Saturday on Dawnquita Shantay Jones, 29, 408 N. Poplar St.

• Michael Wayne Knight, 42, 723 Chardway Court, Brandon, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Saturday on a charge of contempt of court.

• Cedric Demond Torry, 37, 1040 Torry Road, Utica, was arrested about 9:05 a.m. Saturday at the Interstate 20 westbound/Indiana Avenue on a charge of speeding and having a suspended driver’s license.

• Edward Benard Davis, 46, 2727 Alcorn Drive, was arrested about 6:04 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Clay Street and Mission 66 on a charge of having no insurance and having no driver’s license.

• Ronnie Dewayne Thomas, 42, 69 Redbone Road, was arrested about 9:19 p.m. Friday on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• Kenzayda Lamorsha Newsonm 20, 16 Dickerson St., Tallulah, La., was arrested about 12:08 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of South Street on a charge of contempt of court.

• Lacy Bingham Greer, 36, 1111 Shady Lane, was arrested about 12:01 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Warrenton Road on a charge of misdemeanor credit card fraud.
