Seven people have been indicted by a Warren County grand jury in the June 29 shooting death of Anderson White III.
Xavier Rythem Clark, 18, 10150 U.S. 61 Lot 27, and Robert Maurice Harris, 18, 1900 Sky Farm Ave., were both indicted for murder in the case and remain in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $3 million bond each. The pair are accused of shooting White with a pistol during an apparent robbery.
Five other people, Kathleen Michelle Barnes, 24, 209 Ouachita Ave. No. 104, Delta, La.; Patrick Laraymond Chambers, 19, 118 Abraham Drive; Deangelo Eli Fields, 21, 2638 Roosevelt St.; Patrick Dewayne Thomas, 22,1103 Avenue D; and Linda Marie Williams, age and address not listed; were indicted as accessories after the fact to murder.
The five are accused of helping Clark and Harris avoid arrest, and Fields and Chambers are accused of trying to sell the weapon suspected as being used in White’s murder.
Chambers, Fields and Thomas remain in the county jail, while Barnes and Williams have been released after posting bonds. Barnes’ bond was $500,000; information on Williams’ bond was unavailable. Chambers and Fields’ are being held in lieu of bonds of $1.5 million. Information on Thomas bond was unavailable.
White was shot during a robbery the night of June 29, but police responding later in the evening to a call of shots fired in the area of Military and Roosevelt Avenue found no activity.
About 10:45 a.m. June 30, officers returned to the area after a vehicle was found crashed into a road sign indicating a wreck had occurred.
Investigators found biological evidence at the scene, indicating a crime may have occurred, and after a search of the area, left the scene. Investigators were later able to determine the vehicle was last driven by White.
About 12:45 p.m. the same day, relatives and friends called E911 when they located White’s body in a wooded area in the 2000 block of Military Avenue.
Harris turned himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department about 3 p.m. June 30, and Clark was arrested later.
White’s death was the third homicide in the city for 2017.
