A Vicksburg man was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $375,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault and multiple counts of armed robbery.
Samuel Matthews, 27, 204 Kendra Drive, is accused of shooting a man in December, and committing two armed robberies that occurred in October.
He was arrested Wednesday after he attempted to run from police during a traffic stop of a car in which he was a passenger.
Matthews is accused with an unidentified person of robbing a man of $15 at gunpoint Oct. 25 in the area of Bowmar Avenue and Drummond Street, and in an Oct. 31 robbery in the 1500 block of Marcus Street where they took $143.00 in cash.
In another case, Brian Davis Hobson, 27, 2065 Flower Drive, Jackson, was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond charged with statutory rape.
He is accused of having sex in April 2017 with 15-year-old girl. The arrest was the result of an investigation into a complaint filed by the girl, who told police she had consensual sex with Hobson when he came to Vicksburg to visit her.
Hopson also has a hold placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation.
