Hunters honor Rowdy Nosser with retriever test Saturday

More than100 dogs were entered into the West Mississippi Hunting Retriever Club’s Rowdy Nosser Memorial Hunt at Mahannah Wildlife Management Area Saturday.

Dogs are judged in three different level of skill, Started being the first level, Seasoned the second and Finished the third.

All entries undergo a testing on land and also water.

Dogs and handlers are judged on their ability to control and also mark the targets, in this case ducks, marking and memory of the birds’ locations as well as the ability of the dogs to bring the bird to hand while working off a lead.

Above the Started level, dogs cannot be handled by hand, only by command.

The test will continue on Sunday Feb. 18th. The proceeds from the hunt test are will be donated to an organization of the Nosser family’s choosing.
