Melinda Scallions Hinson was born on Sept. 7, 1957 in Vicksburg. She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1976. She was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma on Jan. 12, 2018, and fought hard for almost two months. She died at River Region on March 8, 2018. She was 60 years old.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Henry Scallions; her brother, James Todd Scallions; and her step-father, Jack Bufkin.

From Vicksburg, she is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Hinson; two children, Hannah Hinson and Kayla (Eric) Richards; one grandchild, Heidi Reese Richards; mother, Bonnie Scallions Bufkin; sister, Pamela (Bo) Wright; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, step-siblings, cousins and friends.

Services honoring the life of Melinda Scallions Hinson are being arranged by Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service starting at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Allen Shiers, Mike Adcox, Bo Wright, Jerry Edwards, Darrell Scallions, Danny Scallions and Wayne Garrard. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Shiers, Rhonda Adcox, Pam Wright, Sandra Lauderdale, Pam Lockard, Heather Garrard and Janet Scallions.
