Man charged with shooting into neighbor’s home

A Vicksburg man faces multiple charges after his arrest Tuesday.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Christopher DeVon Jones, 24, 1229 Harrison St., was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and shooting into an occupied dwelling after he stood on the porch of his home and fired a shot that damaged the window of a house across the street.

Police were called to Harrison Street Monday night about a drive-by shooting, but arrested Jones after an investigation indicated he fired the shots. No one was injured.

In another case, Andre Moore, 39, 1301 East Magnolia St., was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with sale of cocaine. Bond information was unavailable. Edwards said Moore has a hold placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation.

In other cases:

• $200 and a 40-ounce bottle of Gucci men’s cologne was reported taken about 7:34 a.m. Tuesday from a recreational vehicle parked at the Ameristar RV Park, 140 Lucy Bryson St.

• A window unit air conditioner was reported taken about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday from a vacant home in the 1200 block of West Magnolia Street.

Police made the following arrests Tuesday:

• Levon Carter Pinkney Jr., 28, 807 Speed St., was arrested about 2:38 a.m. in the 800 block of Speed Street on charges of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, resisting arrest and simple assault.

• Dikembe Hosea Stewart, 23, 900 Wabash St., was arrested about 2:23 p.m. at the intersection of First North and Harrison streets, on charges of three count of simple assault — creating fear.

• A warrant was served on Dennis James Clark, 23, 1015 Bowman St.

• Cierra Patrice Flowers, 28, 1950 Hope St. Apt. 20A, was arrested about 3:43 p.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of harassing phone calls.

• Thomas Lee Thomas, 52, 13141/2 Crawford St., was arrested about 5:37 p.m. at the police department on a charge of contempt of court.

• Raymond David Reed Jr., 30, 812 Meadow St., was arrested about 6:15 p.m. on Wisconsin Avenue on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Police made the following arrests between Friday and Monday:

• Deshawn Marvell King, 27, 108 Churchill Drive, was arrested about 9:23 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Greenview Drive and North Washington Street on charges of having an open container of alcohol, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to yield right of way, improper turn, reckless driving and having an expired tag.

• Jeremy Lamar King, 28, 32 Pauline Drive, was arrested about 9:23 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Greenview Drive and North Washington Street on a charge of contempt of court.
