Paws Golf Tournament

Paws Rescue’s second annual “Golf 4 Paws” charity golf tournament is scheduled for May 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course. Registration and lunch begin at noon, and the tournament at 1 p.m.

The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $70 per person and $280 per team. All proceeds go toward rescue expenses for the Paws Rescue animal shelter. Donations of dog and cat food are also welcome.

MSU golf tournament

The 28th annual Paul Geer Memorial Bulldog Classic Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for May 16 at the Vicksburg Country Club. Registration begins at noon, and the tournament at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $95 per player or $380 for a four-person team, and single players are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Warren County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association.

Clear Creek Ladies report

On May 9, the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its annual Laverne Russell Memorial Invitational. The format was a two-lady scramble. Trophies were awarded to the team with the lowest net score.This year’s winners were Emily Bonelli and Charlotte Crist.

Championship Flight winners were Lou Hart and Pam Posey in first place, Sheila Haynes and Tracie Tolbert in second, and Elsa Foley and Carrie Jones in third.

Kathy Cooley and Karen Wells won the First Flight, followed by Martha Fincher and Rhonda Pearson, and Karen Carroll and Gaby Davidson. The Second Flight was won by Judy McKnight and Cheri Williams, while Carolyn Elliot and Jo Stein finished second and Sandy Cannella and Cindy Leo were third.

The team of Bonelli and Crist won the Third Flight. Sally Bennett and Suzanne Gordon came in second place, while Vesta Bogen and Nancy Stone were third.

Carrie Jones, Bonnie Bunch-Glover, Gwen Buzza and Lynne Brush had the longest drives. Kathy Cooley had the most accurate drive. Carolyn Barker, Judy Troupe, Carolyn Elliott and Emily Bonelli won the closest to the pin awards.

Learn to swim class

Vicksburg City Pool will hold registration for the American Red Cross’ Learn to Swim program, May 16-18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and from 10 a.m. to noon on May 19. All registration must be done in person at City Pool and is on a first come, first served basis.

The classes provide low-cost swim lessons to children and adults of all ages. Children must be at least 3 years old to participate. The cost is $15 per student for each 10-day session.
The sessions will run from June 4-15, June 25 to July 6, and July 16-27, with class times scheduled throughout the day.
