Rebels tie for first in SEC West

Ole Miss finished as SEC West Co-Champions with Arkansas on Saturday after defeating Alabama 10-8 in the third game of their final series of the regular season.

Ole Miss locked in the second seed in the SEC tournament with the win, and set the program record for most regular season wins with 42.

The Rebels took an early 6-2 lead, but the Crimson Tide brought it back within two runs with a two-run single by Keith Holcombe in the sixth inning. Ole Miss extended their lead in the eighth inning, with a wild pitch scoring two runs, then a Cole Zabowski single sending home two more. Alabama mounted a valiant comeback attempt with RBI doubles by Cobie Vance and Chandler Avant, but came up short.

Cole Zabowski had a huge day for the Rebels, with four hits, one of which was a homerun, and a whopping six RBIs. Nick Fortes added two hits and one RBI, Thomas Dillard had one hit and one RBI and drew three walks, and Tyler Keenan finished with one hit and one RBI.

For Alabama, Holcombe finished with three hits and two RBIs and Avant finished with two hits and two RBIs.

In the SEC tournament, Ole Miss has a first round bye and will face the winner of Kentucky vs. Auburn in the second round Wednesday.
