MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) — Dogs from Mississippi shelters have been flown to the East Coast for their new homes.

A charter plane landed Sunday morning at McComb-Pike County Airport and departed with nearly 100 dogs.

The Enterprise-Journal reports the flight had left shortly before noon with 97 dogs from shelters in McComb, Clarksdale, Hattiesburg and DeSoto County. The dogs were bound for New Jersey, where an animal shelter would help them get adopted and find permanent homes.
