Bud Light Scramble

The Bud Light 3-Man Scramble golf tournament will be held June 16-17 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The entry fee is $390 per team and includes mulligans, green and cart fees, lunch and drinks each day, and a practice round. Prizes will be awarded to the top four teams in each flight, ranging as high as $1,200 for the winning teams based on a full 36-team field. Closest to the hole and long drive prizes will also be awarded.

Atlanta Braves tryout camp

The annual Atlanta Braves Tryout Camp is scheduled for June 27 at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and tryouts at 10. The annual event is free of charge and under the direction of area scout supervisor Smoke Laval.

All players must be between the ages of 16 and 22 to participate and are expected to furnish their own cleats, gloves, and uniforms, with no exceptions. The Braves will provide any other necessary equipment.

Clear Creek Lades report

The Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association hosted its June Retirees Scramble on June 6. The winning team included Carol Roberson, Jerry Harmon and Joe Tom. Second place went to the team of Judy McKnight, Del Cox and John Nelson. Third place went to the team of Emily Bonelli, Larry Cook, Wayne Jones and Reed Moesher.

Judy McKnight and Reed Moesher hit the longest drives. Emily Bonelli, Carol Roberson and Del Cox won closest-to-pin awards. Lynne Brush, Charlotte Crist, Judy McKnight, Larry Cook, Del Cox, Reed Mosher, John Nelson and Joe Tom made chip-ins.

Summer tennis program

The City of Vicksburg’s summer youth tennis program will continue through July at Halls Ferry Park. The camp is free, and for players of all skill levels from ages 7-18. Sessions run from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday, with a second junior team tennis session from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Star-Spangled Night Run

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation will present the Star Spangled Night Run June 30 in downtown Vicksburg. The 5K run and walk begins at 8 p.m. at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.
Registration is now open. The fee is $30 for adults or $15 for children 12 and under. Entry forms and information are available by visiting southernculture.org/events, by calling 601-631-2997 or emailing info@southernculture.org.

Entry forms and fees can be dropped off at the SCHF Business Office, 601 Sports or mailed to SCHF, 1302 Adams Street, Vicksburg, MS 39180. Online registration is available at RaceRoster.com.
Race packet pick-up will be June 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the SCHF Auditorium, and also before the race at the race site starting at 6 p.m.
