Miss Mississippi contestants rack up more than $127,000 in scholarship funds

The Miss Mississippi Pageant Organization offered $127,350 in scholarships this year.

The Cash Scholarship Awards were:

• $10,000 scholarship provided by Ameristar Casino & Hotel — Miss Tupelo Asya Branch

First Alternate to Miss Mississippi

• $7,500 scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Corporation — Miss New South Tanner Fant

Second Alternate to Miss Mississippi

• $2,500 scholarship provided by Rusty’s Riverfront Grill and a $2,500 scholarship provided by Miss Mississippi Corporation — Miss Northland Holly Harrington

Third Alternate to Miss Mississippi

• $1,500 scholarship provided by Mutual Credit Union and a $1,500 scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Corporation — Miss Pontotoc Ridge Dana Wesley

Fourth Alternate to Miss Mississippi

• $2,500 scholarship provided by the Outlets at Vicksburg — Miss University of Southern Mississippi Macy Mitchell

Six Semi-Finalists, each

• $2,000 scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Corporation — Miss Dixie Rachel Shumaker, Miss Neshoba County Fair Abby Claire Stokes, Miss North Central Mississippi Brooke Bullock, Miss Red Carpet City Leah Gibson, Miss University Charley Ann Nix, and Miss Vicksburg Blair Wortsmith

All Non-Finalist Contestants

• $1,300 scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Corporation

Six Non-Finalist Talent Awards, each

• $600 scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Corporation to six non-finalists who excel in talent competition — Miss All America City Grace Munro, Miss Amory Molly May, Miss Blues Trail Kaci Bryant, Miss Hinds Community College Charity Lockridge, Miss Jackson Kaylin Costello and Miss Rankin County Maggie Shoultz

2018 Additional Cash Scholarships

• $2,600 Women in Medicine Scholarship, to a qualifying contestant majoring in medicine or pre-medicine, having completed 50 semester hours with the highest GPA — Miss Gulf Coast Lizzy Wicks

• $2,000 Mississippi Choice Scholarship to the contestant receiving the most online votes — Miss Neshoba County Fair Abby Claire Stokes

• $2,000 The Auxiliary at Merit Health River Region to a non-finalist contestant pursuing a career in a medical field — Miss Greenville Macken’z Smith

• $1,500 Rosemary Hayslett Local Pageant Directors Association Award —

• $1,000 Community Service Award provided by the Miss America Organization —

• $1,000 Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency, Sarah Beth James Gift of Life Scholarship, to a contestant whose platform issue is organ or tissue recovery and meets the sponsor criteria — Miss Southern Grace Mary Margaret Hyer

• $1,000 Mississippi Chiropractic Association Posture Scholarship, to the overall winner in preliminary swimsuit competition — Miss Tupelo Asya Branch

• $1,000 Sunbelt Sealing Scholarship, to a contestant pursuing a STEM major and has the highest GPA — Miss Southern Magnolia Katelyn Stone

• $1,000 Sunbelt Sealing Scholarship, to a contestant pursuing a STEM major and has the second highest GPA — Miss Mississippi State University Callie Brown

• $1,000 Social Media Scholarship to the contestant who best promotes the pageant brand and herself during the 40-day period leading up to the crowning of the new Miss Mississippi — Miss Southern Grace Mary Margaret Hyer

• $1,000 John D. Holland Memorial Scholarship — Miss Spirit of the South Emma Caroline Gaddy

• $1,000 Crown Society Scholarship – scholarship to a contestant whose platform deals with intellectual or learning disabilities — Miss Natchez Trace Mary Randell Ivy

• $1,500 Quality of Life Award winner provided by Deep South Pout —

Miss University Charley Ann Nix

• $1,000 Quality of Life Award to the 1st runner-up — Miss New South Tanner Fant

• $500 Quality of Life Award to the 2nd runner-up — Miss Northland Holly Harrington

• $250 Quality of Life Award to each of the four finalists — Miss All America City Grace Munro, Miss Amory Molly May, Miss Deep South Mackenzie Hutto and

• $500 Evening Gown Award provided to the overall preliminary evening gown winner by the Miss Mississippi Crown Society — Miss Tupelo Asya Branch

• $500 Miss Mississippi Board of Trustees Scholarship — Miss Brandon Katelyn Brown

• $500 Mallory Graham Memorial Scholarship to the top non-finalist who’s talent is tap dancing — Miss Delta Hannah Oliver

• $400 Miracle Maker Award to the contestant who raises the most money for the Children Miracle Network Hospitals — Miss Warren County Vivian O’Neal

• $400 Louise and Joseph Hall Scholarship to a contestant selected by the hostesses — Miss Heritage Grace Anne Kennedy

• $300 Debra Franco Dance Scholarship to a non-finalist contestant with the highest dance talent score — Miss All America City Grace Munro

• $500 Miss America 1958 Mary Ann Mobley Scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Local Pageant Directors Association — Miss Southern Grace Mary Margaret Hyer

• $500 Miss America 1959 Lynda Lee Mead Scholarship provided by the Miss Mississippi Local Pageant Directors Association — Miss All America City Grace Munro

• $250 Non-Finalist Alpha Talent Award Scholarship to the first time contestant not in the top ten with the highest talent score provided by the Miss Mississippi Local Pageant Directors Association. Preliminary talent winners who do not make the top ten are eligible to receive this Alpha award — Miss Hinds Community College Charity Lockridge

• $250 Non-Finalist Alpha Swimsuit Award Scholarship to the first time contestant not in the top ten with the highest swimsuit score provided by the Miss Mississippi Local Pageant Directors Association. Preliminary swimsuit winners who do not make the top ten are eligible to receive this Alpha award — Miss All America City Grace Munro
