Pair charged with robbing 85-year-old man

A man and a woman face robbery charges in the Saturday night theft of money from an 85-year-old man.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Shonda Lachella Anderson-Ellis, 30, 2104 Baker St., and Johnny Earl Thomas, 33, 2530 Oak St., are accused of assaulting the man in the 2900 block of Valley Street about 7:16 p.m. and taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Both are being held without bail in the Issaquena County Corrections Facility pending an initial appearance Wednesday in Municipal Court.

According to police reports, the victim said a woman approached him and asked him for a dollar. As he went in his wallet to get the dollar, he said he was ambushed by a man who hit him and took his wallet.

The couple was located Tuesday around 1:36 p.m. in the area of Fairground and Oak Street and brought in for questioning. They were later arrested.

In another case, a Vicksburg woman faces a charge of burglary after the owner of a home in the 1500 block of Jackson Street came home from a trip to find her asleep in his bed and wearing items belonging to him.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Venshada Neisha Clayton, 2501 Ken Karl Ave., is accused in the break-in. She was being held in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility without bail pending an initial appearance in Municipal Court Wednesday.

According to police reports, officers were called about 2:51 p.m. Monday about a woman asleep in a bed at a home on Jackson Street.

The homeowner told police he had gone out of town for a few days and when he returned he found Clayton inside his home and she had apparently fallen asleep. He said Clayton gained entry to his home through a window in the rear of the house. It was unclear how long Clayton had been at the home.

In other cases:

• A 2010 Buick LaCrosse, a Dell laptop, change drawer and a key to a 2004 Nissan were reported taken about 1:05 a.m. Tuesday from C&K Auto, 2720 Clay St. The car was later recovered by Warren County sheriff’s deputies on Beechwood Road.

• A 37-inch Vizio flat screen TV was reported taken about 2:23 p.m. Monday from a home in the 1000 block of National Street.

• A black 8-foot trailer was reported taken about 8:20 a.m. Monday from a home in the 2300 block of Dana Road.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests Monday:

• A warrant was served on John Markziegler Adams, 28, 5210 U.S. 61 South.

• A warrant was served on Richard Darnell Evans, 42, 1001 South Petty St. Gaffney South Carolina, during a stop in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

• Tracy Dawn May, 43, 510 Bazinsky Road, was arrested about 5:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• A warrant was served on Jacorey Darnell Williams, 27, 902 Blossom Lane.

Police responded to the following calls Tuesday:

• 7:35 a.m., 3600 block of Washington Street, petit larceny.

• 9:09 a.m., 100 block of Hamilton Place, petit larceny @

• 11:27 a.m., 1900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, malicious mischief.

• 5:28 p.m., 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard, shoplifting.

• 12: 27 a.m., U.S. 61 South at Grange Hall Road, simple assault – creating fear.
