Letter: Increase in taxes harming Vicksburg residents

To the editor:

Do the leaders of Vicksburg understand that the majority of the citizens are having problems paying their monthly bills? I don’t think so. People are going to have a problem paying an increase in property taxes. I do not know how people are going to pay more in property taxes with the high cost of living expenses and lower wages. We will see people lose their homes if there is an increase in property taxes.

Also, paying for more for gas and sewage is another way in which families are going to suffer. This is going to put a major hurt on families.

Just take a trip to the grocery store and purchase a dozens of eggs, a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. The cost has gone up for food.

Leaders please realize that any increase in fees or taxes will hurt the families. Families really cannot afford anymore increase.

According to the latest report the average family income is in Vicksburg is only $27,000. We really should be looking for ways to keep the cost of living down as much as possible. The quality of life looks bleak for everyone if the cost of everything is increasing.

City leaders please remember families are very stressed out trying to pay their bills.
