Emily Jeanne Greer, 88-years-old, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, after a stay in Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon.

Emily Jeanne is survived by her son, Dr. John Keith Mansel and his wife, Darrilyn Dubberly Mansel of Jackson; stepson, Frank Brooks Greer of Harlingen, Texas; brother, John Alfred Faulk Jr. and his wife Patsy Williams Faulk of Vicksburg; son-in-law, John Carl Olander of Meridian; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferriday Mansel McClatchy (Charly) of Oxford, Jane DeLoach Mansel Tuckey (Adam) of Savannah, Georgia, Carl Justin Olander of Acworth, Georgia, Emily Brooks Olander of Brandon and John Brooks Greer of Harlingen, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Charles Robert McClatchy III and Jane Mansel McClatchy of Oxford, niece Kena Kay Faulk and nephew John Alfred Faulk III of Vicksburg. 

Emily Jeanna was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Greer Jr.; of Brandon; her daughter, Cynthia Jane Mansel Olander of Brandon; her parents, John Alfred Faulk (Fred) and Emily Ferriday Vincent Faulk of Vicksburg; her first husband, John Henry Mansel of Oxford; her grandparents, Emily Ferriday Vincent and John Dawson Vincent of New Orleans, Louisiana; Alfred William Faulk and Julia Foster Faulk Cotton and Edward Beauregard Cotton of Vicksburg; and friend, Libbie Benson of Brandon.

Emily Jeanna attended and graduated from Carr Central High School, Vicksburg in 1948. After graduation, she attended the University of Mississippi and was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority.

In 1950, she married John Henry Mansel of Oxford and she lived there until his death. In 1968, she married Grover C. Greer, Jr. of Harlington, Texas. He died December 2012.

While living in Oxford, she was very active in community life. She served as president, vice president and secretary and treasurer of the Tri-Delta Alumni Club-Chi Chapter, officer in the Jaycets; Women of the Presbyterian Church officer; Federated Women’s Club officer and Cub Scout leader and Brownie Scout leader.

She was known for volunteering her time and service.

Emily Jeanne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was active in the First Families of Mississippi organization through the Faulk and Foster families. She also loved the history of the Ferriday family, her great and great-great grandparents of Helena Plantation located on Lake Concordia, Louisiana.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery Friday at 11 a.m. with Glenwood Funeral Home in charge. Italo Furieri of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg will officiate the service.
