VPD looking for 16-year-old shooter

Vicksburg police are looking for a 16-year-old boy wanted in the shooting of a 17-year-old girl just before 2 p.m. Monday.

Police are not releasing the names of the suspect or the victim because of their ages. According to police, the shooting occurred in an apartment at 1001 First East St., where the girl suffered a gunshot wound to the neck.

The victim, who was found inside the apartment, was taken by ambulance to Merit Health River Region and later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Her condition was unknown at press time. The shooting remains under investigation.
