Walter Barron Hynum

Walter Barron Hynum of Vicksburg, formerly of Hazlehurst, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old. He will always be loved, cherished and remembered by his family for always being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born in Pattison, and was preceded in death by his parents, Burton Hynum and Jessie Hynum Deaton.

Walter was a lifetime welder, retiring from Marathon LeTourneau with 35 years of service and later retiring from Big River Shipbuilders. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and most of all loved spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Ailene Barker Hynum and his three brothers, Herbert “Lard” Hynum, William “Bill” Hynum and Roy Deaton.

He is survived by five children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Tony Sr. and Kathy Hynum, grandson, Tony Hynum, Jr.; great-grandsons, Trey, Bradly and Tagen Hynum and granddaughter Hailey Hynum and great-granddaughter Bailee Hynum; Roy and Cindy Hynum Hearn, grandson Chris and Jennifer Hynum, great-grandsons, Lane and Vaughn Hynum, grandson Nick and Jennifer Hearn and great-grandsons John-Ryan and Landry Hearn, granddaughter Heather Hearn and great-granddaughter Aile-Rose Hearn; Tim and Amy Hynum and granddaughter Claire Hynum; Doug and Sonia Hynum King, grandson Austin and Lauren King and great-grandson Brayden King, granddaughter Savannah King and grandson Zachary Holdiness, Jay and Dana Hynum Hearn, granddaughter Russell and Kelsea Hearn Carnahan, great-granddaughters Kenlee and Karlee and great-grandson Jay, granddaughter Ashton and Hannah Hearn Ahner and great-grandson Alex Ahner and grandson Hagen Hearn.

He is also survived by a brother, George Deaton of Hazlehurst, his sisters- in-law, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 12 until 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hynum, Tony Hynum, Jr., Nick Hearn, Austin King, Ashton Ahner, Lane Hynum and Trey Hynum. Honorary pallbearers will be J. W. Wright, Doc Kimble, Tommy Paine and the late Danny Reed and former employees of Marathon LeTourneau and Big River Shipbuilers.
