VPD makes another arrest in shooting

Vicksburg police have arrested a second person involved in the July 17 shooting of Michael Lamonte Sorrells, 20, on Meadowvale Drive.

Damio Shantel Moore Jr., 19, 1716 Harrison St., was arrested Tuesday and charged with disturbing the peace in connection with the shooting.

Police Friday arrested Caleb Carter, 20, 223 First Ave., who was also involved in the Meadowvale Drive shooting, on a charge of disturbing the peace after he turned himself in at the Vicksburg Police Department.

Carter was also served with a warrant for failure to appear in Warren County Circuit Court on a grand larceny charge. A Warren County grand jury indicted Carter in May for grand larceny in the reported theft of seven chainsaws.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests between Friday and Sunday:

• Lajessica Sherrianna Miller, 31, 790 Longview St., was arrested about 11:06 p.m. Sunday at the Vicksburg Police Department on three counts of contempt of court.

• Lakiksha Shaunta Miller, 38, 117 Pemberton St., was arrested about 9:07 p.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of Clay Street on a charge of contempt of court. She was also served with a warrant.

• Derrick Leon Johnson, 41, 1213 Locust St., was arrested about 1:20 p.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of Clay Street on a charge of trespassing .

• Warrants were served Sunday on Fredrick Lee Price, 40, 9995 Mississippi 27.

• Warrants were served Sunday on Timothy Rashad Jones, 26, 209 Hillside Drive.

• Jessie DeAngelo Hicks, 27, 1807 Evans Alley, was arrested about 3:17 p.m. Saturday at Iowa Boulevard and U.S. 61 South on a charge of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

• Kiana Kierra, McDaniel, 21, 1226 Second North St., was arrested about 12:09 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Mulberry Street on a charge of embezzlement over $400.

• Joshua Duel Walker, 46, 222 Riverview Road, Morrilton Arkansas, was arrested about 11:28 a.m. Saturday at Warrenton Road and Dabney St. on charges of seatbelt violation and driving with an expired license.

• Drumane Darcel Wilson, 32, 200 Freddie Lane, Tallulah, was arrested about 10:55 Saturday at Warrenton Road and Dabney Street on a charge of contempt of court.

• Jessie James Miller Jr., 56, 1-1 Lucida Lane, was arrested about 6:44 a.m. Saturday on Eastover Drive on four counts of contempt of court.

• Montre Neepre Bailey, 38, 210 Miller Drive, was arrested about 2:22 a.m. Saturday at Miller Drive and U.S. 61 South, on charges of second-offense DUI, careless driving and having an open container of alcohol.

• Debbie Yvonne McCarty, 49, 2719 Skyline Drive, Jackson, was arrested about 1:52 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Warrenton Road on a charge of driving with suspended license.

• A warrant was served on Tommie Lee Ratliff, 58, 5026 East Watkins Drive, Jackson, about 1:49 a.m. Saturday during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Warrenton Road.

• Reginald Wendell DeFrance, 46, 244 Bazinksy Road, was arrested about 4:50 p.m. Friday on a charge of having no insurance.

• Rita Ann Beard, 65, 3515 Manor Drive, was arrested about 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on a charge of shoplifting.

• Adam Trevon Dewan Carter, 20, 205 First Ave., was arrested about 1:10 p.m. Friday at the police department.

• Joseph Lemarta Johnson, 20, 210 Meadowvale Drive, was arrested about 12:45 p.m. Friday at the police department on a charge of disturbing the peace.

• Michael Joe Thomas, 36, 4005 Rainey Drive, Jackson, was arrested about 11:15 a.m. Friday at the police department on a two counts of contempt of court.

• Michael Charles Dulaney, 29, 685 Redbone Road, was arrested about 10:03 a.m. Friday at the police department on a charge of contempt of court.

• Aaron Keith Wynn, 25, 307 Farmer St., was arrested about 8:55 a.m. at the police department on a charge of harassing phone calls.

• Jason Ramon Ryles, 41, 3365 U.S. 61 South, was arrested about 8:05 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Grove St. on a charge of simple assault-creating fear.

• Travious Quinshad Jackson, 21, 198 Hickory St., Cary, was arrested about 3:52 a.m. Friday on Halls Ferry Road on a charge of careless driving.

In other cases:

• A 1986 Ford F-150 was found burned about 5:26 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Drusilla Lane.

• Joshawn East, 38, 119 North Poplar St., was arrested about 3:05 a.m. Sunday on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

• Copper wiring valued at $1,000 and four air conditioning switches were reported taken from a home in the 1900 block of Cherry Street.

• A wooden speaker box containing two Kicker speakers valued at $600 were reported taken from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Rialto Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 10:59 p.m. Saturday in the 5700 block of U.S. 61 North.

• A Cobra Enterprises .25-caliber derringer, two watches valued at $100 each, a diamond pinkie ring valued at $250, diamond cluster pinky ring valued at $400, gold cufflinks, a CO2 pistol, straight razor, Ryobi drill, $15 in change and Viagra were reported taken about 6:51 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 2800 block of East Main Street.

• A gold wedding band valued at $1,400, a gold ring with three diamonds valued at $500, a Guaranty Bank checkbook, keys to a 2011 Nissan Rogue, a wallet valued at $10 and $24 were reported taken from a home in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

• Shots were reported fired about 2:06 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Mission 66.

• Shots were reported fired about 8:49 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Grange Hall Road.

• A bad check for $1,998 was reported passed at F&G Grocery, 1707 Washington St.
