County Golf Championship

The 2018 Warren County Golf Championship is scheduled for July 28-29 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina. The entry fee is $110, and the tournament is open to everyone. Golfers do not have to be Warren County residents to play.

The two-round, 36-hole tournament will be flighted after the first round, with the top three flights playing from the championship tees on Sunday. Senior men 60 and over will play from the gold senior tees and have their own division. The women will play from the red tees.

There will also be a shootout on July 27 at 5 p.m. for the top 12 players from last year’s men’s Championship. The entry fee is $20 and includes a cart and prizes for the top four finishers.

Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall youth baseball league will begin on Aug. 1 and continue through Sept. 12 at the Parks and Recreation office on Army Navy Drive. The league is for children ages 5-12, and the registration fee is $25 per child.

Adult softball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed fall softball league will begin Aug. 1 and continue through Sept. 13 at the Parks and Recreation office on Army Navy Drive.

The league is for men and women, and the registration fee is $175 per team plus an additional $10 for each Warren County resident and $20 for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.
There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Sept. 5 at the Parks and Recreation office.

Flag football registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Warren Flag Football League’s 2018 season is now open and will continue until Aug. 25. The season will begin Sept. 1. Other registration sessions will be held Aug. 18 and 25 at the Vicksburg Junior High football field, from 5-6 p.m.

VSO soccer registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is now open and will continue until Aug. 19. The league is for children ages 4-16, and the season runs from early September through late October.

Registration fees are $60 per child in the U4 and U6 age divisions; $80 for the U8 division; $85 for U10; and $90 for U12 and above. There is also a $33 fee for uniforms. A $5 discount for early registration before July 27 is available, as well as a 20 percent discount if registering for both the fall and spring 2019 seasons.
