A Louisiana Company was the low bidder to replace the roof on Vicksburg Junior High School.
Vicksburg Warren School District Trustees July 26 accepted the bid of Roofing Solutions of Prairieville, Louisiana, on the recommendation of Gary Bailey, who is the program manager for the school district’s school building renovations program.
Roofing Solutions’ bid of $1.659 million was the lowest of two bids for the project. E Cornell Malone Corp. of Jackson submitted a bid of $1.687 million for the project.
“I have them on three or four projects,” Bailey told the trustees about Roofing Solutions. “They’re a good group; we feel like we can get a proper job from them.”
The trustees tabled action on the Beechwood Elementary roofing at Bailey’s recommendation.
In a related matter, the trustees voted to advertise for bids for the Vicksburg High School renovations and addition.
The roofing projects and the Vicksburg High School renovations and addition are part of a $131.5 million facilities upgrade plan for the school district, which includes work at every school and the construction of a new Academy of Innovation. All projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020.
Warren Central High School will also undergo a series of renovations.
Plans for the construction of the new Academy of Innovation have the design work starting in October and construction occurring from July 2019 through July 2020.
The facilities plan also calls for upgrades to the high schools’ athletic facilities. The athletic upgrades will be handled as a separate part of the plan, but a timeline for their design and construction has not been set.
