Vacant house fire deemed suspicious

Vicksburg authorities are looking for information about anyone who may have been around a house at 105 Linda Circle that burned late Monday night.
Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said the house has significant damage. He said the fire has been termed suspicious, because the house was vacant and had no utilities connected.
The fire was reported through 911 about 11:58 p.m. Monday, he said, adding the department’s fire investigator Nathaniel Williams also responded to the blaze.
He said Williams was called after firefighters learned from neighbors that the house had been vacant for some time and was on a website called Auction.com, “And then we had the report that there were some maybe unauthorized people on the property.”
He said Williams has developed some leads about the fire, and “We’re hoping possibly he can find something concrete — an eyewitness or maybe some video from another home, or anything that can give us more specifics.”
Danczyk said firefighters had statements from several neighbors in the area, and all matched. “They were all saying the same thing,” he said.
“It is a bank-owned house,” he said. “Nobody should have been in the home for any period of time. It is a foreclosure house. That’s why we’re calling it suspicious.
“If the fire was started, we’d like to find out which person or persons, are responsible.”
