The annual free Vicksburg Area Job Fair, co-sponsored by the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and the Governor’s Job Fair Network, is scheduled for Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center and booth space is still available.
Adam Todd, director of the Governor’s Job Network, said there are approximately 50 businesses participating and room for more. Businesses who contact Todd by 3 p.m. Friday will have a booth space that includes a display area with draped table and two side chairs.
“We can accommodate a business up until the start of the job fair,” Todd said. “Only thing is, they may not have full pipe and drape on a table.”
The $195 registration fee also includes two lunches, brochure and website listings of available positions. Extra lunch tickets can be purchased for $15 per lunch. An additional booth space is $100 and there is a $50 surcharge for electrical outlets.
Don Brown, director of the Warren Yazoo Behavioral Health and chamber board member, is chairing the Chamber Job Fair Committee again. He said this event brings businesses and job seekers together.
“We can talk all day long about bringing jobs to Vicksburg, but this is where the rubber meets the road,” Brown said.
Brown, who has been a part of the job fair for the last 20-something years, said on average 800 to 1,000 people show up for the event looking for a job or a career.
“This is one of the best events the chamber of commerce has to affect the lives of people in our area,” Brown said.
