Bradley, who is a captain in the Army Reserve and an attorney in the judge advocate general’s office, was called back to active duty to serve with the 6th Recruiting Brigade, based at North Las Vegas, Nevada. She reports to her new assignment Sept. 12.

“I will be making certain the recruiting process is going the way it should go and is supposed to go,” she said, adding her deployment could last up to 5 years.

Flaggs said the city has been accepting resumes for an interim human resources director, and he expects to name someone at the Aug. 13 work session of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

“By law, we have to offer her position or a comparable position to her when she returns (from duty),” he said.

Bradley was sworn in Oct. 18 and succeeded Walterine Langford as human resources director. Langford, who is also an attorney moved to the legal department as assistant city attorney.

“I’ve learned a lot here, and I believe we’ve accomplished a lot of great things in the almost 10 months that I’ve been here,” she said.

“We’ve been able to regain some structure and procedure, and put some processes in place to make things more professional and proficient with regards to our application process, interviewing process, orientation; we have amended and created a lot of new policies that are more in line that can give a definition so employees can read a policy and understand what it means.”
