The United Way of West Central Mississippi will kick off its annual campaign in a unique way this year with the inaugural “Supper on the ’Sip,” Sept. 27, on the historic Old Mississippi River Bridge.

Participants will have the opportunity to dine from several local restaurants, while enjoying the gorgeous view overlooking the Mississippi River.

“What an incredible experience to join your friends, family and community for a sunset dinner on the Mississippi River,” Lori Burke, co-chair for the event, said. “This is an experience you can only have at Supper on the ’Sip.”

Proceeds from the event benefit the United Way of West Central Mississippi’s 19 partner agencies.

“What I love most about this event is it is unique and not duplicated just like the services our agencies provide,” Kami May, UWWCM director of marketing and community relations, said.

“I can’t wait to have fun at this event, and I know I am helping the community in the process.”

The event will also feature local artist Claiborne Cooksey, who will be painting scenes from the evening and one lucky person will take the artwork home as a complimentary door prize.

“We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of volunteers to form a committee to help us make this event possible. The night will truly be unforgettable,” Michele Connelly, executive director of United Way of West Central Mississippi, said.

“I cannot go anywhere without someone stopping me and asking me about this event, and I love it.”

A professional photographer will also be at the event to capture the night, while musical selections from Ralph Miller and Eddy Cresap will add to the atmosphere.

“The United Way is such an important part of our community and I am excited to be involved in this unique event,” Ali Hopson, co-event chair, said.

“I am so thankful to all the committee chairs and volunteers who have been working to plan this special night and to all the vendors who will be participating in it. It’s going to be great.”

Those interested in attending the event can visit unitedwayvicksburg.org/sip to purchase a ticket in the amount of $35.
