Man arrested for receiving stolen property

A Vicksburg man is charged with receiving stolen property after his arrest Tuesday, Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said.

Kwasba Lamont Nichols, 37, 329 Shady Lane, was arrested about 10:55 a.m. on a police department warrant. He was released on $2,500 bond, Warren County Jail records show.

In other cases:

• Copper wire, an Ingersol Rand impact wrench, DeWalt jigsaw valued at $500, DeWalt saw valued at $500, assorted wrenches and a grinder and drill valued at $100 each were reported taken about 10:55 a.m. Tuesday from Armstrong Hardwood Flooring, 1735 North Washington St.

• A 2014 Mazda pickup, a Kubota battery valued at $200 and copper wire were reported taken from a building in the 3700 block of Washington Street.

• Police Tuesday recovered a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am reported taken from Copiah County.

• A Husqvarna chainsaw valued at $500 and a Pioneer chainsaw valued at $500 were reported taken about 8:43 p.m. Tuesday from a home in the 1100 block of Greenview Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at Second and National streets.

• Shots were reported fired about 11:42 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison and Martha streets.

• A 2016 Nissan Maxima was reported taken about 12:29 a.m. Wednesday from the Eastview Apartments, 1900 Baldwin Ferry Road.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests Tuesday.

• James David Whaley, 35, 216 John Glen, Natchez, was arrested about 12:29 a.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a warrant from another law enforcement agency.

• Sabin Christopher Reaves, 28, 3010 Lee Ave., Crystal Springs, was arrested about 9:11 a.m. on charges of improper equipment-window tint, suspended driver’s license, expired tag and failure to provide insurance.

• Taylor Haden King, 115 J.A. Wes Drive, was arrested about 10:08 a.m. at the police department on a charge of receiving stolen property.

• Kameron James Logan, 18, 401 Cairo Drive, was arrested about 10:55 a.m. in the 100 block of Athens Avenue on charges of trespassing and malicious mischief.

• Matthew Geovanny Martinez, 27, 500 Longview St., was arrested about 2:38 p.m. at the police department.

• A warrant was served on Dee Antoinette Leach, 31, 738 Morgan Ave.

• Derrick Leon Johnson, 41, 819 Walnut St., was arrested about 6:53 p.m. at Washington and Clay streets on a charge of begging.

• Eric Dewayne Smith, 47, 727 Adams St., was arrested about 9:52 p.m. in the 1100 block of Belmont St. on a charge of malicious mischief.
