Shifting her truck into park and simultaneously wiping sweat from her brow, you see her beaming smile from behind the glass.

Patsy Larry has been delivering mail for 25 years; 18 of which have been in her hometown of Vicksburg.

“I got my start because my brother worked at a post office and told me to apply,” said Larry.

She said there are highs and lows in the job but she loves what she does, which you can see when she moves through downtown, in-and-out of shops and through the interactions she has with people.

Interacting with people, Larry said, is her favorite aspect.

“Patsy spreads positivity at every turn,” Peter Barrett, manager of Lorelei Books, said. “Every time you see her, even if just for two seconds, your day is that much better afterward.”

“It’s not just delivering the mail,” she added, “you develop relationships and become a part of people’s families and that’s the best part to me.”
