Lady Vikes rally to beat Franklin County

Kelsey Lockridge went 4-for-4, scored two runs and drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom of the sixth inning as Warren Central beat Franklin County 8-7 in a slow-pitch softball game Saturday.

Brianna Daughtry drove in three runs for the Lady Vikes (3-2), while Brooke Comans was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Franklin County jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Sydney Scott had an RBI single and Jayde Haller hit a three-run home run.

Warren Central got three runs back in the bottom of the first, tied it in the fourth, and then the teams traded runs until the bottom of the sixth. Kaylee Hoeft hit a run-scoring fielder’s choice to tie the game at 7, and then Lockridge’s single brought in Comans with what turned into the winning run.

Benton Academy 11, St. Al 1

Jada Mims went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored, Shelby Bowering had two hits and scored four runs, and Winona Christian beat St. Aloysius 21-1 in the second game of a split doubleheader on Saturday. The Stars scored 13 runs in the top of the first inning.

Ellie Koestler singled and scored a run for St. Al (0-4), while Emme Eaton and Victoria Moorehead each had a double.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Benton Academy scored all of its runs in the first two innings and beat St. Al 11-1. Madison Waters tripled and scored a run for the Lady Flashes, and Koestler had a double.
