Mary June Cooksey passed on from this life to be with her Lord on the night of Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018.

She was at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
She was born in Louisville Jan. 16, 1958. She was 60 years old.

She was the daughter of George Dwight Addkison and Shirley June Etheridge Addkison.
Mary June recently celebrated 35 years of marriage with her husband, Kevin Lee Cooksey. They met at First Baptist Church in Vicksburg and were married in Louisville on Aug. 14, 1983. A loving wife, mother, teacher and friend, Mary June had the heart of a servant using her gifts to touch the lives of so many. She served the Lord in her calling as a teacher for 38 years.

Mary June was preceded in death by her parents, George Dwight Addkison and Shirley June Addkison, her father-in-law, David Lee Cooksey, and mother-in-law, Janice Penley Cooksey.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Lee Cooksey; and her children, Adren Cooksey, Kurt Cooksey (Claiborne) and Cameron Cooksey, all of Vicksburg.

She is also survived by her beloved brother, Larry Addkison (Jan) of Louisville; niece Molly Addkison Taylor (Will) of Brandon; nephew Andrew Addkison (Meagan) of Brandon; and great-niece Maeley Taylor; along with her sister-in-law; Cynthia Cooksey Beasnett and her niece, Joy Arledge, both of Vicksburg.

Family and friends will gather together to celebrate the life of Mary June Cooksey on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 1607 Cherry St., Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 4 p.m.
