Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, members of the Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association played a round of individual stroke play. Carol Roberson took first place, with Connie Kegerreis second and Mary May third. Kegerreis had the lowest putting score. All three ladies made chip-ins.

The Vicksburg Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center. Tickets are $20 and are available at the VWSD athletic office on Mission 66.

The 2018 inductees are Warren Central softball and soccer coach Lucy Young; Vicksburg High football coach Houston Markham, Jr.; VHS track and field standout Monique Varnado; and VHS football players Michael Dottorey and Sylvester Stamps.

Fall tennis program

The City of Vicksburg’s fall tennis program is now under way. Sessions are held each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park through the end of the year. St. Al tennis tryouts

Tryouts for St. Aloysius’ boys and girls tennis teams are scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10, from 4 to 5 p.m. each day, at Halls Ferry Park. For more information, call Rick Shields at 601-618-4757.

Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s fall youth baseball league will continue through Sept. 12 at the Parks and Recreation office on Army Navy Drive. The league is for children ages 5-12, and the registration fee is $25 per child. For more information, call Joseph Graves at 601-634-4514.

Adult softball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult co-ed fall softball league will continue through Sept. 13 at the Parks and Recreation office on Army Navy Drive. The league is for men and women, and the registration fee is $175 per team plus an additional $10 for each Warren County resident and $20 for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Sept. 5 at the Parks and Recreation office.

Flag football registration

Registration for the Vicksburg Warren Flag Football League’s 2018 season will continue until Aug. 25. The season will begin Sept. 1. A registration session will be held Aug. 25 at the Vicksburg Junior High football field, from 5-6 p.m.

Bricks and Spokes

The 9th annual Bricks and Spokes bike ride is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, in and around Vicksburg and Warren County. The recreational bike ride will feature 10-, 30-, 50- and 62-mile routes spanning the city and county, including the Old Mississippi River Bridge and Vicksburg National Military Park. Professional riders Lauren Hall, a Vicksburg native, and Brad Huff will also be part of the pack. All types of bicycles are welcome, but all riders must wear helmets.

Spooky Sprint 5K

Registration is now open for the Spooky Sprint 5K. The 5-kilometer run and walk, 1-mile fun run and carnival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 in downtown Vicksburg and is a fundraiser for Vicksburg Catholic Schools. The race will begin and end at BancorpSouth, 820 South Street. Runners and walkers are invited to compete in Halloween costumes for the lighthearted race. The registration fee for the 5K is $25, or $15 for the fun run for children 15 and under. To register online, visit spookysprint5k.webconnex.com/registration18.

Over the River Run

The 30th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. The registration fee is $25 for the 5-mile races, or $10 for the children’s 1-mile fun run for children 10-and-under. There is also a $75 group rate for up to five family members living at the same address. The entry fee includes a long sleeve T-shirt and admission to the postrace party in Ameristar Casino’s Delta Point parking lot.
