Pair arrested on drug charges at local convenience store

Two Vicksburg men face drug charges after their arrest Wednesday at the Fast Lane convenience store, 1217 Cherry St.

Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said Willie Donell Jones, 51, 102 Kelly Circle, and Derrick Thomas, 39, whose address was listed as 610 Martin St., were arrested Wednesday afternoon on warrants charging them with sale of a controlled substance. Jones, he said, was out on bond on a previous drug charge at the time of his arrest.

He said the warrants were the result of a three-month investigation into complaints of drug sales in the area.

In another case, four DVDs were reported taken about 3:06 p.m. Wednesday from the Exxon at 1266 Mission 66.

Vicksburg police responded to the following calls Wednesday:

• 6:32 p.m., 900 block of Stout Street, malicious mischief.

• 3:24 p.m. Halls Ferry Park area, simple assault-bodily injury.

• 1:42 p.m., 1300 block of Warrenton Road, trespassing.   

• 1:08 p.m., 2700 block of Drummond Street, petit larceny.

• 9:32 a.m., 1600 block of Bodily Street, malicious mischief.
